Tribology in mining: Highlights in iron ore abrasiveness

This article aims to present results on research, recently developed, and related wear of equipment meet the challenges mining industry. Emphasis is done iron ore in Brazil due relevance sector for its economy tribology assets productivity. Results considerations cover (conveyor belts, pipelines) development high chromium cast (HCCI) microstructures face wear. Under wet erosive caused by pumped slurries with different compositions solid particles samples tested follows a trend which those higher silica contents provided greater mass losses samples. On other hand, when surface protection against components objective, presence niobium hardfacing coating contributed increase resistance abrasion, carbides (NbC). It was also demonstrated that there positive correlation between degree metamorphism throughout genesis evolution relation abrasiveness.
